Swiss-born sprinter Thomas Griesser was Austrian champion in 200 metres (1993-95), 4×100 metres relay (1995, 1999-2000), and 4×400 metres relay (1998-2000). He qualified for the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics. In both the 4x100 metres relay and 200 metres individual, Griesser was eliminated in the heats. At the 1997 European Indoor Championships, he placed fifth with the 4x400 metres relay, and at the Worlds that same year, the relay squad failed to reach the final.
