Sprinter Axel Nepraunik was Austrian champion in the 100 metres (1967-1969, 1972), 200 metres (1968-69, 1972), and 4×100 relay (1964, 1969, 1971-72). He was then selected for the Austrian 4x100 relay squad at the 1972 München Olympics. They reached the semi-finals but were disqualified in their heat. Individually, Nepraunik was eliminated in the first round of the 100 metres. By profession, he became a lawyer, running his own office at Wien (Vienna).
