Austrian sprinter Franz Ratzenberger was national champion in 100 metres (1990) and 4×100 metres relay (1987-92). He qualified for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics with the 4x100 metres relay reaching the final and placing seventh. In 1993, Ratzenberger was banned for two years for doping with methandienone and, as a result, his career ended.
After his active career Ratzenberger became head of sports promotion at Adidas Austria and was responsible for the support, contract design, promotion for all contracted associations, clubs, institutions and individual athletes. He later joined a stamp producing company as head of international sales and marketing.
