Athlete Kurt Rötzer was Austrian champion in the 5,000 metres (1948, 1950, 1952, 1954-55), 10,000 metres (1951, 1954-55), and 3×1,000 metres relay (1948,1952). At both the 1950 and 1954 European Championships he was eliminated in the first round of the 5,000. Unfortunately for him, the same thing happened at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics.
