Biography

Josef Steiner was Austrian champion in 5,000 metres (1972), 10,000 metres (1977), 25 km road running (1979), marathon (1979, 1981), cross country-short (1976), and 3×1,000 metres relay (1972). He was selected for the marathon at the 1980 Moskva (Moscow) and Steiner placed 39th in 2-24:24 hours. He held the Austrian marathon record from 1980-83 with 2-16:43 hours.

Personal Best: Mar – 2-16:43 (1980).
