Hadley Hinds had been a track athlete in his school days, but the pinnacle of his career came when he was selected to represent Barbados as part of the nation’s first independent delegation to the Olympics in 1968 in Mexico City. There, he took part in the 200 metres event, but was eliminated in round one. Hinds had competed in athletics for Coleridge & Parry School and, in his later career as an educational administrator, he served that school in various capacities, eventually retiring as Acting Deputy Principal. His son, Andrew, represented Barbados in the 100 metres track event at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
