Biography

Catherine “Ketty” Stevens was born into an athletically-inclined family, with her sisters Léontine and Maria also being active track and field athletes in the 1920s. Her sister, Léontine was a national champion in high jump and competed at the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam.

Catherine Stevens specialized in several track events, winning national championship titles in 80 metres hurdles, high jump, long jump and discus throw. She was named to the 1936 Belgian Olympic team and competed in the women’s high jump event in Berlin, finishing 14th in a field of 17 competitors. Stevens continued to compete until the mid-1940s, winning her last championship titles in 1943 in high jump and discus throw.
