During the late 1920s and early 1930s François Prinsen was one of the best sprinters in Belgium, where he won eight national titles. Prinsen won his first national title in 1927 with victory in the 400 metres. This began an incredible sequence of him winning seven consecutive titles in the event, his last one coming in 1933. In 1931 he also won the Belgian title in the 200 metres, and in 1932 he was part of the quartet that set a national record in the 4 x 100 metres, which stood until 1948. Prinsen ran in the 200 and 400 metres at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics where he advanced to the quarter-finals in the latter.
Personal Bests: 200 – unknown; 400 – 50.2 (1931).
