Biography

Henri Smets was a Belgian athlete who competed in long-distance and cross-country running races. Smets was a consistent performer at the national championships where he had a third-place finish and three top-four finishes across different distances from 1919 to 1922. At the 1920 Antwerpen Olympics he ran in the 5,000 metres where he finished seventh in his heat. He was also part of the Belgian squad for the cross-country individual and team races in Antwerpen, with Belgium finishing in sixth place in the latter.
