Biography

Lúcio de Castro was a talented Brazilian track and field athlete who competed in sprinting and the pole vault. Castro competed in the latter at the 1932 Los Angeles Games where he finished sixth with a best clearance of 3.900 metres. At the South American Championships in Athletics he was a three time champion in the pole vault, winning gold in 1941, 1946, and 1947, along with a silver in 1932. At the championships he also won silver in the 4 x 100 metres relay (1932), and silver in the javelin (1947).
