Héctor Benaprés

Héctor Benaprés was a Chilean track and field athlete who initially competed in the long jump and triple jump before specialising in the discus throw and shot put. At the 1920 South American Championships Benaprés won silver in the triple jump and bronze in the long jump. By the 1924 championships he had switched to the discus throw, winning silver with a throw of 37.81 metres. He won another silver when he threw 38.43 metres at the 1927 championships.

Benaprés represented Chile at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics but finished in 26th place in the qualification round with only the top six progressing to the final. At the 1929 South American Championships he redeemed himself by winning gold in the discus along with silver in the shot put. Two years later he did the double at the championships, winning gold in both the discus and shot. Benaprés had further success at the 1933 championships with gold in the discus and silver in the shot, followed by silver in the discus and bronze in the shot at the 1935 championships.
