Mario Rosas took up track athletics after World War II and in 1948 he was selected to represent Colombia in two events at that year’s London Olympics, the 400 metres and the 400 metres hurdles, and was eliminated in the first round of both. He had had better luck at the recent Bolivarian Games, which stretched from the end of 1947 into the beginning of 1948, where he had won bronze and silver in those events respectively and earned his selection for the Olympics. He retired from active competition shortly after the Olympics and later trained in aviation, becoming a commercial pilot.
