In 1930 he emigrated to Canada where he ran for Altoma Calgary in preparation for the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics. At the Games in Los Angeles he ran in the marathon, finishing a credible tenth. By 1934 he had returned home to his native Denmark, winning the 20km and marathon races at that year’s national championships.
