Biography

Jørgen Jensen was Danish youth champion in the 3,000 metres in 1962 and junior champion in 1964. Competing extensively from 1966-76, he won eight Danish team titles (4x1500 m relay, cross-country, and trail running), and eight individual championships: 1966 5K, 1973 10K, 1972 and 1974 20K road, and four consecutive national marathon titles – 1973-76. In addition to his two Olympic appearances, Jensen competed in the marathon at the 1971 and 1974 European Championships, finishing 26th and 13th, respectively. He ran his marathon PR at Amsterdam in 1975, with 2-16:51.

Personal Best: Mar – 2-16:51 (1975).
