Biography

During the 1930s and 1940s Harry Siefert dominated long-distance running in Denmark and won more than a dozen titles. At the 1932 Danish championships Siefert won gold in the 10,000 metres and bronze in the 5,000 metres. After winning three silvers and a bronze at the next two championships, he then had an incredible streak of wins with eight 10,000 metres titles (1935–36, 1938–40, 1942–44) and six 5,000 metres titles (1935, 1940–44). He was also a three-time Danish champion in the 8kms cross-country race (1936, 1938, 1940). Siefert ran in both the 5,000 and 10,000 metres at the 1936 Berlin Olympics, finishing tenth in each race.

Personal Bests: 5000 – 14:36.2 (1938); 10000 – 30:26.8 (1943).
