Biography

Finnish middle-distance runner Frej Liewendahl represented Turun Urheiluliitto in Turku. Liewendahl was part of the Finnish group of athletes that won gold in the 3,000 metres team race at the 1924 Paris Olympics. He ran in the first heat, with Finland finishing in first place and Liewendahl placing 12th. In the final he did not finish the course after suffering with bronchitis. At the Paris Games he also ran in the 1,500 metres, finishing in eighth place in the final. He was scheduled to run in the 800 metres at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics but did not start the race. A year earlier Liewendahl won the silver medal in the 800 metres at the Finnish athletics championships.

Personal Bests: 1500 – 4:00.3 (1924); 3000 – 8:56.9 (1924).
