Olavi Suomela was a Finnish track and field athlete who specialised in the unusual combination of the triple jump and the shot put. At the national championships Suomela won silver in the triple jump in 1935, and bronze in the shot put in 1937 and 1939. He finished ninth in the triple jump at the 1936 Berlin Olympics with a best effort of 14.72 metres.
