Biography

René Djian represented France in international track athletics from 1950 through 1958. During that time, he took part in two editions of the 800 metres tournament at the Olympics and was eliminated in round one in 1952 and the semi-finals in 1956. He was also a reserve with the 4x400 metres relay at the latter edition, but did not take part. In-between, he had his greatest success by winning silver in the 800 metres at the 1955 Mediterranean Games. Domestically, he won two French titles in the 800 metres in the Olympic years. His wife, Marthe Lambert, was also an Olympian and competed at two track and field events at the 1956 Melbourne Games.
