Biography

After the war Lucien Guillier represented France at international track and field competitions for 10 years, specialising in the shot put and discus throw. In 1947 Guillier competed at his first international meet for France, where he placed third in the shot put at an event in Colombes in the north-west of Paris. Over the next few years he competed at various events across Europe, in addition to becoming the national shot put champion in 1952. This performance earned Guillier a place on the Olympic team for the Helsinki Games, placing 11th in the shot, along with 25th in the discus. Two years later he competed in the shot put at the European Athletics Championships in Bern but did not advance from the qualification round.
