World War II hindered what might have otherwise been a more fruitful sporting career for Julien Le Bas. As it were, his time on the international stage was brief and began in 1946, when he won a silver medal in the 4x100 metres relay at that year’s European Championships, with René Valmy and the non-Olympians Agathon Lepève and Pierre Gonon. He was also fifth in the 200 metres event. His only other major tournament was the 1948 London Olympics, where he was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the 200 metres and failed to finish the opening round of the 4x100 relay, alongside Valmy, Alain Porthault, and Marc Litaudon. Nationally, he was the French 100 metre champion in 1946 and 1948 and the 200 metre champion in 1948. In 2016, his hometown of Saint-Lô named a Sporting Complex in his honor.
Personal Bests: 100 – 10.8 (1948); 200 – 22.0 (1948).
