Vladimir Prikhodko was French, but was born to a Russian father and Yugoslavian mother. Prikhodko came to prominence as a junior, but then served a suspension of four years (1966-70), during which he lived in Canada. On his return he threw 69.92 in June 1970, better than the French record, but it was not ratified. Prikhodko was French Champion from 1971-73 and set official French hammer records of 70.54 and 71.60 in 1972. He also had another two marks better than the French record in 1971, but which were not ratified.
