Biography

A sprinter and long jumper, Pat Devine competed in the 1950 European Athletics Championships at Bruxelles. She was just 18-years-of-age at the time, and her jump of 4.96 put her in last position, nearly one metre behind winner Valentina Bogdanova of the Soviet Union.

At the Helsinki Olympics two years later, Devine was eliminated in her 200 metres heat and was a non-starter in the long jump. She enjoyed her only WAAA platform finish in the 100 yards in 1954 when she was runner-up to Anne Pashley. That same year, Devine competed in both sprints at the European Championships at Bern, and reached the semi-final of the 200 metres, where she ran a personal best 24.8 in finishing fourth. Also in 1954, Devine represented Scotland in the British Empire and Commonwealth Games at Vancouver, but was eliminated in the heats of both the 100- and 220 yards and was a non-starter in the long jump.

Personal Best: 200 – 24.8 (1954).
