Biography

In only his second race over the full marathon distance, Harry Barrett set a world record (2-42:31) in winning the inaugural Poly Marathon in 1909. His time remained a European best for a further four years during a period of rapid development of the event. This was the only significant performance of his career as he failed to finish the 1908 and 1912 Olympic races and the 1911 Poly.
