Michael Dineen won the triple jump at the 1908 Olympic Trials and shared first place with Sidney Abrahams at the 1912 British Trials. In 1911 he won the first AFEA title and also the 120 y hurdles race at the GAA sports at Kensal Rise, London having four years earlier won the hurdles and long jump titles at the corresponding Games. A versatile and all-round athlete he was also the 1906 Leeds Tramways 440 y champion in the open event, running for London Tramways, for whom he worked as a stock clerk..
