Biography
A member of a prominent rugby family, Wyatt Gould captained Newport RFC (1905-06) and three of his brothers were capped by Wales. The best known of the three, Arthur “Monkey” Gould, twice finished third in the AAA 120 hurdles (1887, 1893), and Wyatt also placed third in this event in 1903. He won the Welsh 120y hurdles title four times (1902-03, 1905, 1910). For the 1908 season he concentrated on the 440y hurdles and won a place on the Olympic team. For many years he worked as a manager of the GWR Docks at Plymouth and also served as an official with both Newport Rugby Club and the South Wales & Monmouthshire AAA.
