Tim Graham won a silver medal in the 4x400 metres relay at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics with Adrian Metcalfe, John Cooper, and Robbie Brightwell. Graham ran the opening leg and handed over to Metcalfe with a one metre lead. In the end, the American quartet was too strong for the Britons and won by 0.9 of a second in a world record time. Graham also finished a creditable sixth in the individual 400 metres in a final won by the American Mike Larrabee. Graham ran his personal best 46.08 in the final.
Graham went into the Tokyo Olympics as the South of England 880 yards champion and had finished third in the AAA 440 yards behind Brightwell and George Kerr of Jamaica. Graham was the AAA 440 champion in both 1966 and 1967, although he won the title as the highest placed Briton behind winner Wendell Mottley of Trinidad in the first of those years.
Also in 1966, Graham was runner-up in the AAA indoor 880 and won a bronze medal in the 4x440 yards relay at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games at Kingston, Jamaica, along with Martin Winbolt-Lewis, John Adey, and Peter Warden. Although born in India, Graham was based at Harrow in North London. He attended Loughborough College before becoming a schoolteacher.
Personal Best: 400 – 46.08 (1964).
