Biography

After placing 12th in the 1920 International Cross-Country, Anton Hegarty finished fifth in the Olympic race. In 1921 he made his second appearance in the International, placing 28th. Prior to World War I he was in the Army, stationed in Rugby, but had a medical discharge prior to the war. He helped form the City of Derry Harriers in 1919, but later returned to Rugby, where he died in a traffic accident.
