Biography

Arthur Muggridge was an under-rated athlete whose 31:31.8 for 10K at the 1928 Olympics placed him behind only Alfred Shrubb and Archie Robertson on the UK amateur all-time list. His best placings at the AAAs were second in the 4 miles (1925, 1928) and fourth in the 10 miles (1926). He was also a top class cross-country runner, representing England three times (10th 1926, 13th 1928, 70th 1929) in the International Championship. He worked for the Southern Railway and died at the early age of 28.
