Biography

Javelin thrower Beate Koch won a bronze medal at the 1988 Seoul Olympics and took part in two international matches. She also placed third at the 1988 and 1989 East German Championships. After German reunification she was unable to repeat her earlier successes and retired soon thereafter. In her youth Koch started in sports with ballet and gymnastics. She studied as a mechanical engineer.

Personal Best: JT – 70.76 (1989).
