Middle-distance runner Beate Liebich was eliminated in the heats of the 1,500 metres at the 1980 Moscow Olympics, but two years later she won a bronze medal at the 1982 European Indoors. In East Germany she earned three national titles with the 4x400 relay (1979), 1,500 indoor (1982), and in cross-country (1982).
Liebich married non-Olympian race walker Uwe Liebich, got divorced and they married again. Her son Martin Conrad also became a middle-distance runner and coach. Beate Liebich became a coach at the Olympic Center Potsdam and since 2012 within the Athletics Association of Hamburg. She was educated as an economic businesswoman.
