Biography

A high jumper, Andrea Reichstein placed 10th in the 1983 World Championships, sixth at the 1982 European Championships, and fourth at the 1986 Europeans. Reichstein also won silver at the 1982 European Indoors, adding gold in that event in 1986. Her national results were as follows: champion in 1981, 1982, 1984 and 1986; second – 1978 and 1980; third – 1977, 1979 and 1985; and she won the 1986 indoor title. In 1982 Reichstein set a European Indoor record with 1.99 metres. She married non-Olympian East German decathlete Gert Bienias in 1981.
