East German Alfred Döring was a distance runner and steeplechaser, winning the GDR title in 1960 and 1964. He also competed in cross-country and the 5K. His professions were farmer, officer in the NVA (Nationale Volksarmee) and educator. He failed to qualify for the steeplechase final in 1964 at Tokyo.
