Biography

East German Rainer Dörner was a distance runner and steeplechaser, who won the GDR title in 1963, and was runner-up in 1960-62. He also competed in cross-country and the 5K. He failed to qualify for the steeplechase final in 1964 at Tokyo. Dörner worked as a script painter. He then studied graphic design at the High School of Applied Arts in Heiligendamm and later became a graphic artist, painter and sculptor. At first he mostly produced posters, but later focused on statues and paintings. Dörner lived and worked in Rostock.
