Bernhard Hoff finished fifth at the 1980 Olympics in both the 200 and 4x100 relay, due to a poor exchange in the latter by Eugen Ray that ruined his team’s chances. Hoff was also a participant at the 1979 World Cup coming in fourth in the 200 and in 1981, where he was second with the 4x100 relay. The same year the relay placed sixth at the European Cup. He was East German 200 Champion in 1977, 1979, and 1980, while in 1981, he was runner-up and third in 1982. Hoff studied industrial electronics and worked with the East German Railway Company “Deutsche Reichsbahn.” After German reunification he moved to a computer systems company.
Personal Bests: 100 – 10.41 (1977); 200 – 20.39 (1980).
