Hammer thrower Martin Lotz was married to discus thrower Ingrid Eichmann and they were the only German couple at the Tokyo Olympics. Besides his Olympic appearance Martin Lotz participated in the 1962 and 1966 Europeans and the 1965 European Cup, where he finished third. He won East German titles in 1962-63 and 1965. Martin Lotz was educated as a toolmaker, but later worked as a technical draftsman. After German reunification he worked as a taxi driver.
