Peggy Beer was the sister of the non-Olympian Ronald Beer and the daughter of Klaus Beer and his teammate Sigrid Albert. She came in 6th at the 1992 Barcelona and thirteenth at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. Peggy placed seventh at the 1991 World Championships, did not finish in 1995 and placed ninth in 1997. She won bronze at the 1990 European Championships and placed sixth in 1994, while in 1998 she could not start due to an injury. In 1990 she was runner-up at the last East German Championships and one year later she won the first German title for the reunified country. She again won this title in 1997.
