Josef Šebek competed in both singles and doubles at the 1912 Stockholm Olympic, alongside Bohuslav “Černý” Hykš in the later event. Šebek and Hykš lost in straight sets in the first round of doubles. Šebek made it to the fourth round of the singles, albeit with a bye in round one, and a walkover in round two, before defeating Norwegian Noble Stibolt in round three. Šebek was born and lived in Praha.
