Gianni Baldisserri learned to play football in his youth with AS Cervia. In 1956, at the age of 18, the goalkeeper started his senior career at fourth-level AC Cesena. After two seasons and 50 matches he moved to SPAL 1907 in 1958 where he earned his first eight Series A appearances. But after only one season he joined second level AC Reggiana in 1959. Baldisserri played 35 matches and was selected for the Olympic squad, but did not play a single minute in the tournament as Italy placed fourth. After the Games he joined AC Venezia and helped them to win the Series B title. He played 26 matches in that season, but in the next year, in Series A, Baldisserri earned only eight caps. He moved to fourth-level Pordenone Calcio in 1962 and played the following seasons for various third- and fourth-level clubs. His career ended with Series D club AS Cesenatico, and retired in 1972. Baldisserri played in 16 Series A matches and 61 Series B matches, but never earned a full international cap, although he played in two matches for Italy’s Olympic team.
