Biography

Middle-distance runner Vera Kummerfeldt was born in Breslau (now Wrocław in Poland) in 1935 shortly before the outbreak of World War II. Her parents then moved to Northrhine Westfalia. She finished an unfortunate fourth at the 1960 Roma Olympics in the 800 m. At the 1962 European Championships she was eliminated in the second round. In 1959, 1960 and 1962 she was West German Champion in the 800. Kummerfeldt also ran several other distances but specialized in the 800 m.

Personal Best: 800 – 2:05.9 (1960).
