Biography

Zhuo Shijin started his football career in the B group of the South China Athletic Association. When the club team from Hong Kong split in the 1934-35 season, he became left winger of South China’s starting team. Zhuo also joined the Guangzhou Police and played together with China’s top soccer players in the Guangzhou League. His impressive performance for Hong Kong at the 6th National Games in 1935 earned him a place in China’s football team at the 1936 Berlin Olympics.

After the fall of Hong Kong in the Sino-Japanese War, Zhuo Shijin went to Shanghai in 1942 as the captain of the newly founded Lian Yi team. He led the team in the 1942-43 season, the last of the Western League Division A, and tied for the championship with the Italian Navy. Zhuo then returned to Hong Kong.
