Thoralf Grubbe started his career in 1908 playing for the Fodbollklubben av 1908 which merged with Odd Grenland in Skien in 1910. He then represented Odd Skien until 1919. With his club he won the cup championships in 1913 and was a losing finalist in 1910. In 1929, Grubbe became Odd’s vice chairman. At the 1912 Olympic Games, he was an unused substitute. His only international game for Norway was in June 1912 as a left-half against Hungary, which they lost 6-0.
Grubbe worked as a tradesman. He married Dagny Jonassen, from whom the later divorced. His second wife was Ingrid Johanne (née Helgesen). They had three children.
