Lund first worked as a clerk in a colonial grocery store in Skien. In 1916 he moved to Kristiania (now Oslo) and became a manager and wholesaler of machinery. During the German occupation in World War II he was briefly put in Åkebergveien prison, part of which was used by the Germans for political prisoners and detainees.
