From the late 1950s to the early 1960s Brazilian footballer Othon played for several clubs including a spell at Botafogo in Rio de Janeiro. Othon’s brief career saw him win gold with the national team at the 1963 Pan American Games, with him scoring four goals during the tournament. The following year he was named in Brazil’s squad for the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, but he did not play in any matches. After his playing career he then turned to coaching working at Botafogo from 1973 to 1980. Othon then spent many years in the Middle East working in the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia. His biggest success came with the Saudi club Al Hilal SFC when the team won the King Cup in 1982.
