Sekiji Sasano graduated from high school in the town of Fujieda, Shizuoka, before attending Waseda University and joining the university’s football club. He was selected as forward for the Japanese soccer team at the 1936 Berlin Olympics but was not fielded in either game. With the team of Waseda, Sasano won the All Japan Football Championship, the 18th Emperor’s Cup, in 1938. Later he worked for the administration of Shizuoka prefecture.
