Long jumper Elfriede von Nitzsch finished 14th at the 1952 Helsinki Olympic Games. She participated in five international matches and was West German long jump champion in 1943, 1946-47, and 1949, also winning the 1946 pentathlon. Her husband non-Olympian Klaus von Nitzsch was runner-up in the 1949 decathlon at the German nationals.
