Biography

Károly Zsák started his sports career in the colors of MTK in 1909. One year later he moved to 33 FC, where he played for two decades. He was still loyal to his team when they were relegated from the first division. In the 1913/14 season Zsák was chosen as the Hungarian football player of the year. He was not only an excellent goal keeper, but he was very effective scoring from penalties. During his career he scored nearly 40 goals from penalty kicks.

At the beginning of the 20s, one of his fingers was broken and healed improperly. For years Zsák had pain and the finger had to be amputated, but it did not affect his play. At age 17 he was selected for the national team and eventually earned 30 caps. He was on the Hungarian team at both the 1912 and the 1924 Olympic Games, but did not play. Zsák died at a relatively young age in 1944.
