Biography

In the semifinals of the 1972 Olympics 400 metre hurdles, Dieter Büttner tumbled over the East German Christian Rudolph. A protest by the team management, however, was rejected because he was lying in fifth place and had no chance to reach the final. Büttner was German Champion in this event in 1971 and 1972. He later became a teacher for sports, geography and evangelic religion.

Personal Best: 400H – 49.21 (1972).
