Biography

Ralf Drecoll was a West German high jumper who placed sixth at Tokyo in 1964 with the height of 2.09 metres. He was West German Junior Champion in 1960 and 1962, and was runner-up in 1967 in the adult competition, placing third in 1963 and fourth in 1964. He bettered the German record twice in 1964 (2.10 and 2.11 m) and in 1967 with 2.15 m, but retired the same year for health reasons. He later became a lawyer and notary for corporate, labor, pension rights and private construction rights in his hometown Buxtehude, where he died just six days before his 68th birthday.
