Biography

West German steeplechaser Gerd Frähmcke withdrew during his heat of the 3,000 steeplechase at Montréal in 1976 due to an injury. He finished seventh at the 1974 European Championships, took part in the European Cup in 1975 over 10K, and in 1973 and 1974 participated in the International Cross-Country Championships. Domestically he had several runner-ups but could not manage to win a title.

Frähmcke was the son of a logistics and freight forwarding manager, and was educated as a mechanical engineer. His brother Jürgen was also a national successful athlete.

Personal Best: 3000S – 8:19.44 (1976).
