Biography

Raymond Hecht was a German javelin thrower who finished an unfortunate fourth at both the 1996 Atlanta and 2000 Sydney Olympics. He was also fourth at the 1995 World Championships. Nationally, he won the last East German title in 1990 and, after re-unification, the German titles in 1993-94, 1996, 1999, and 2002.

Hecht later studied sports science at Köln and became a javelin coach. In 2008, he was named chief national coach for the German A/B teams. He later emigrated with his family to Aquitaine in South France.

Personal Best: JT – 92.60 (1995).
